Express Grants in Action

In October, NEF awarded an Express Grant titled "Hands-on Hearts and Minds: Enhancing Reading, Math, and SEL in Kindergarten" to Kingsley Elementary teachers Kendall Myatt, Renne Knuff, Melanie Tarver, and Samantha Robbins.

The grant funded the purchase of developmentally appropriate toys and interactive materials that are used during center time, fostering foundational reading and math skills, and social emotional learning.

"Students are using the academic skills they have been learning throughout the year and are able to apply them in meaningful and engaging ways, which has made a positive impact on students," Myatt shared.
